
An explosion in South Korea in August 2002 at a plant manufacturing carbon-fibre composite adhesives killed 3 and injured 12 people (Chem Eng News, Aug 26, p13). The plant was using epichlorohydrin and m-aminophenol as raw materials for the adhesive. A spokesman for the company, Dongwoo Fine-Chem (82% owned by Sumitomo, Japan) said that the cause of the blast was, as yet unknown.
