The first book is entitled Crystallisation of Organic Compounds, an Industrial Perspective, by H_H Tung, Ed Paul, Mike Midler and James McCauley, Wiley 2009 ISBN 978-0-471-46780-9. All the authors are or were formerly at Merck, USA with industrial experience of performing crystallisations on scale. As a result, there is a wealth of useful information as well as unpublished case studies and practical advice. It is highly recommended toall chemists and engineers.
The second book is the second edition of Polymorphism in Pharmaceutical Solids, by Harry G Brittain, Published by Informa Healthcare (ISBN 978-142007321-8) This is an update of an excellent earlier volume, and has been enhanced by some new chapters as well as some considerable updating of old ones. It takes a more analytical chemistry and formulation viewpoint rather than process R&D, but nevertheless, is strongly recommended reading.
