It has been shown that, for some applications, recrystallised palladium(II) acetate performs much better than typical commercial grades.  For example the preparation of the White catalyst as well as the preparation of Overman’s catalyst both require recrystallised Pd(OAc)₂. (See Org Synth, 2007, 84, 148), but it makes one wonder whether many other applications could benefit.  Fortunately this recrystallised catalyst is now available from Aldrich.
