Kevin Meyer at Dow (USA) has reported* a simple, robust two step process for the preparation of monoalkylhydrazines, using inexpensive and readily accessible t-butyl carbazate acetone hydrazone as the hydrazine source.
Yields are good, and even propargyl bromide (usually problematic) can be used.
