20 Years Keeping the Scientific Community up-to-date

For twenty years Scientific Update have been providing high-quality, specialised training courses and first-class process chemistry focussed conferences to chemists and chemical engineering, throughout the world.

Here are just some of the key events, this highly-talented company have brought to the Scientific Community over its 20 year history. Quite an achievement!

1989 First Chemical Development & Scale-Up in the Fine Chemical Industry Training Course - this remains one of our most popular courses to date.
1990 Dr Trevor Laird initiates plans for a new process chemistry journal.
Scientific Update branches out into S & M –  Synthesis and Methods, an annual course launched.
1994 First of the successful bi-annual conference, The Scale-Up of Chemical Processes, in Brighton
1995 Launch of Scientific Update web site
Dr Derek Robinson joins Scientific Updates' consultancy team after developing a new course for development chemists on Good Manufacturing Practices in Chemical Development
1997 Dr Laird is appointed editor of the new ACS/RSC journal Organic Process Research & Development and the 1st International conference Organic Process Research and Development is held in San Francisco.
1998 Scientific Update expands through acquisition of Spring Innovations conference business. Three new courses launched, Separation Technology for Organic Chemists, and Organic Chemistry for Chemical Engineers and Essential Aromatic Heterocyclic Chemistry
1999

New web site with online registration and we celebrate our 10th Anniversary

2000 Dr Will Watson joins us as Technical Director
2001 Two new courses, Carbon-Carbon Bond Formation and Fundamentals of Chemical Processing for Bulk Drugs and Intermediates and launch of a FREE bi-monthly e-Newsletter, "What's New in Process Chemistry"
2002 2001 Nobel Prize winner for Chemistry gives keynote presentation at Chiral Asia conference in Hong Kong
  Scientific Update is awarded the prestigious "Queens Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2002"
  Secrets of Batch Process Scale-Up training course, given by Fran McConville, is held and proves to be an extremely popular and successful addition to the Scientific Update portfolio of training courses.
2003

Dr Peter Spargo joins Scientific Upate. He was formerly Director of European Chemical R & D for Pfizer Global R & D.

2006 Dr Trevor Laird owner and of Scientific Update focusses on consultancy and expert witness work.
  "What's New in Process Chemistry"  features snippets of relevant topcial tips of interest to chemists and chemical engineers.
   
 2008  Dr John Knight joins Scientific Update in January 2008 as Scientific Director.
   Scientific Update host a series of round-table discussions at Informex.
   Scientific Update for the first time take a booth at CPhI.
