20 - 21 September 2007, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, UK
A 2 day course given by Dr Peter Lowe, Novobio Ltd
Introduction
Your compound’s quality and value is frequently expressed in biological terms. Typical attributes of potency, selectivity, ADMET, mode of action and efficacy cover a wide range of complex biological technology and data.
Hence, in order for Medicinal Chemists to assess the quality and value of their own compounds, it is important for them to continually add an appreciation of Biology to their armoury of skills.
In a typical drug discovery programme the range of biological parameters measured, the speed of data acquisition and hence volume of data generated is rapidly increasing. Medicinal Chemists are being exposed to a flood of biological data and interpretation from multiple sources in their day-to-day work. Today’s medicinal chemist therefore needs to balance this by increasing the breadth and depth of their personal biological knowledge.
This course is for medicinal chemists who wish to gain an improved feel for drug discovery biology. The biological world is immense and therefore the course focuses down to provide an overview of key areas of biology relevant to the Medicinal Chemist in a drug discovery environment.
At the end of the course the Medicinal Chemist should be better positioned to analyse and interpret the biological data, which is used to evaluate their compounds.
The organisers reserve the right to change the published programme of events and course content as circumstances dictate.
