Description

Introduction

The aim of the course is to give lab chemists an understanding of the issues that need to be considered during the early stages of scale up to large laboratory scale equipment (10-20 litre vessels) / kilo lab.  The course will concentrate on chemical safety and selectivity issues and include information on what safety testing equipment is available and the uses and limitations of this equipment.  Attendees will learn how to identify potential problems whether they be thermal hazards or selectivity issues.  Methods used by other companies for handling hazardous reagents and reactions will be described as well as alternative chemistry to circumvent these reactions and/or reagents.

Course Outline

Description

The Buxted Park Hotel estate dates back to 1199, and the present Georgian mansion house was built in 1725. Set in over 300 acres of fine Sussex parkland, all the rooms overlook the extensive gardens, in which guests can walk and relax. All the meeting rooms are naturally light, airy and spacious and have wonderful views over the estate and garden.

The hotel is conveniently situated for London Gatwick Airport, from where it can be reached by taxi.  Heathrow and Gatwick airports are connected by a fast coach service (Speedlink), which runs every 15 minutes.

The hotel is holding standard rooms for us at a discounted rate. Scientific Update is contractually obligated to certain financial goals with the hotel.  Your reservation is greatly appreciated, as it helps to meet our agreement.  Please make your reservation soon in order to secure the reduced group rate.

Directions:

By Rail: Trains from London Victoria stop at Buxted Station or Haywards Heath, which is only 15 – 20 minutes taxi drive from the hotel.

By Road: From the A25 you can pick up the A22 (Junction 6) and from the M23 take Junction 10 to East Grinstead and then follow the signs south to Uckfield and eventually Buxted which is located on A272.
